1. Skate day event

In collaboration with the Office of the Provost, UCL East and City Mill Skate, we are pleased to offer a day of free skateboarding lessons provided by our partners at Learn To Skateboard.

There are 3 lessons on offer: taking place at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm, offered to riders of all abilities by the experienced instructors. All skateboards, obstacles, and safety equipment will be provided.

Please sign up for free here. The first batch of tickets sold out within a few hours so grab one quick!

Other types of skating, including quads, inlines and longboarding are also very welcome! Committee members will be there to help and may provide equipment.

Refreshments will be available.

All UCL students welcome! Skate club membership is not required to join this event.

About the venue:

City Mill Pool Street is a research project and part of a wider set of initiatives across UCL that seek to broaden participation in education and ultimately to change perceptions of what attending university can be like. Via a programme of events since 2020, City Mill Skate has been building a diverse community of skateboarders around the site of the UCL East campus.

As part of the afternoon, you will be invited to share your thoughts in a face to face chat about City Mill Skate and its role as a shared community space..

2. Sessions

Skating sessions are held biweekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. More or beginner-specific sessions may be held subject to demand. Let us know what types of sessions you want in our WhatsApp group

You are welcome to come and go anytime during the session. If you ask in the group chat, committee members may have extra equipment to bring to the session.

Upcoming sessions:
16 Nov: 2:00pm-5:00pm, location TBC
19 Nov: 2:00pm-5:00pm, location TBC

*Location is subject to change due to weather conditions. Keep up-to-date through our WhatsApp group here.

Please note that you must have membership to join regular sessions and socials. Get the standard membership for £10 here.

3. Updates on equipment

Unfortunately, our grant application for equipment was unsuccessful. However we have not been discouraged and are exploring other options. The money we receive from memberships go directly towards this and other events, so we encourage you to get a membership if you haven't done so!

Feel free to direct any questions to George, our President, by emailing george.ponodath.20@ucl.ac.uk, messaging our Instagram, or just ask in the WhatsApp group.
